No two gardens are the same: every community has different needs.

Sanzuma customizes garden plans depending on the space, and needs of each school. Working alongside the community, we help design and plant in a way that acknowledges and respects each garden's ecology and culture, and facilitates the garden's productive longevity.

Current Projects and Local Commitments:

  • Running the San Pedro School Farm that produces for the School District. (Over 3250 lbs since fall 2017)

  • Presently, we are active in two Marin County School Gardens

  • Sell produce to local restaurants from the school gardens

  • Research and Development for Zero Waste Marin, concerning  Plate waste and farm to school connections

  • Pathways recovery program for adults

  • Probation youth community service hour program

  • On our 4th year teaching after-school nutrition, cooking and gardening classes at Short School 2-5th grades

  • Chair of the Farm to Student Collaboration

  • Co Chair Marin Food Policy Council

  • On the Board for the International Clubhouse, Marin City

  • On both the San Rafael and Novato Wellness Committees

  • Chair on the Heal 2.0 Steering Committee

We focus on a train the trainer method.  Once the garden or project is flourishing, we step back and take on a mentorship role.
